Electrical cabinet manufacturing requires a steel easy to process but also a flawless surface aspect. Depending on process and requirements, several type of steels can be used.
Magnelis® is recommended for this demanding application. This alloy, composed of 93.5% zinc, 3.5% aluminium and 3% magnesium, benefits from an improved self healing on the edges.
For painted cabinets, electrogalvanised is the best recognised solution. This coating is characterised by its uniform and regular thickness, which eases the welding operation. Its superior surface aspect makes it easy to paint. Cold rolled optimised for forming operations can also be used.
Ready-to-paint is an alternative allowing direct painting on cold rolled steel without any surface treatment such as degreasing, phosphating or passivating, while offering better results in terms of paint adherence and corrosion resistance, thus resulting in significant savings.
